Redmen top Rebels

PEDRO - When it came down to crunch time, Zach Mullins and Rickie McDonie were making a lot of loud noises.

Mullins and McDonie combined for 12 points in the fourth quarter as the Rock Hill Redmen rallied in the second half to beat the South Gallia Rebels 51-42 Saturday.

The Redmen trailed at the half, but the defense took over in the third quarter and held the Rebels to just five points and tied the game at 32-32.

Mullins scored six points and McDonie had six points including two clutch free throws as Rock Hill outscored South Gallia 19-10 in the final quarter.

Rock Hill was just 8 of 17 from the foul line for the game, but converted 4 of 7 in the fourth quarter.

South Gallia took a 12-9 lead in the first quarter and led 27-19 at the half despite eight points by Mullins.

Then came the third quarter that saw the Redmen outscore the Rebels 13-5 and set up the strong finish.

Mullins finished with a game-high 18 points and seven rebounds. McDonie added nine points and six rebounds.

Josh Waugh scored 17 points to lead South Gallia. Jason Merrick chipped in eight points.

Rock Hill (3-2) plays Tuesday at Jackson.

In the reserve game, Rock Hill won 33-31 as Nick Snavely scored 11 points and Mike Ison netted 10. Bernie Faulks had 12 for the Rebels.
