PROCTORVILLE - The fill-in filled it up.

Missing point guard Kendall Staggs, Fairland coach John McClung turned to sophomore Nolan Love, who turned in a career performance as the Dragons rallied in the fourth quarter to beat the Green Bobcats 53-50 Tuesday.

Love had 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists as Fairland improved to 3-2.

"Nolan Love stepped up and took over the (point guard) and did a good job running the offense, and he stepped up and hit foul shots in the fourth quarter. That's a good job for a sophomore asked to finish out the game," McClung said.

Jeremy Pritt finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, Matt Clark had 10 rebounds and Matt Burd five as Fairland outrebounded Green 38-19.

"I told them before the game that rebounding would win the game and that was the difference. Clark did a good job rebounding and Jeremy Pritt had another steady game," McClung said.

"Matt Burd is playing his role well by rebounding and playing defense. We feel we're where we should be."

Aaron Patten had a game-high 26 points to lead Green (1-5). Kenny Elrod had six rebounds and Derek Lewis added eight points and six assists.

Green had just four turnovers, but coach Kevin Lewis was unhappy with the rebounding effort and 19 for 50 shooting.

"We did a good job taking care of the ball, but we allowed them to shoot 44 percent from the field and we gave them 15 offensive rebounds," Lewis said.

Patten had eight points and Pritt five as each team scored 13 points in the first quarter, but Green managed to take a 26-23 halftime lead.

Love had six points in the third quarter as Fairland got within 39-37.

Patten got eight more points in the fourth quarter, but Pritt and Love combined for 12 points including Love going 4 of 7 at the line to give Fairland the win.
