One child dead, father injured in Upper Township car accident

An Ironton child is dead, his father injured after a single vehicle crash Friday evening on Sugar-Creek-Johnstown Road.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers said 12-year-old Joshua Blair was pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County Coroner's Office Investigator Bill Nenni.

The driver, Donald E. Blair, 40, was taken by Healthnet Helicopter to St., Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va., where he was listed in fair condition.

Troopers said the accident apparently happened just before 10 p.m. The 1974 Dodge pick up truck was traveling north on that roadway when it went off the right side of the pavement and struck a tree.

The accident happened near Sugar Creek- Johnstown Road's intersection with State Route 141.

Troopers are asking that anyone with any information to the accident, or who may have witnessed the crash call the patrol post at 377-4311 or 867-3100.
