Prosecutors seek death penalty in Stenson#039;s murder

MESA, Ariz. - Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty against two men accused of killing Cincinnati Reds player Dernell Stenson.

Deputy Maricopa County Attorney Catherine Hughes said in court Tuesday that prosecutors would seek the death penalty against Reginald Riddle, 19, and David Griffith, 20. Both are charged with first-degree murder.

Stenson, 25, was found Nov. 5 on a Chandler street, shot in the head and chest, his hands and feet bound. Stenson had been in Arizona playing in the Arizona Fall League.

Riddle's half brother, Kevin Riddle, 45, faces charges of car theft and hindering prosecution in the case.

Kevin Riddle was found driving Stenson's SUV hours after the body was discovered.

A fourth man, Robert Lee Maye, 32, was arrested on suspicion of hindering prosecution but no charges were filed.
