Reds Winter Caravan to visit Huntington

Cincinnati Reds fans can mix shopping with meeting some baseball celebrities.

The Reds Winter Caravan will be at the Huntington Mall from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Lazarus Dome on Saturday, Jan. 31.

The Caravan opens with stops in Dayton, Lima and Columbus Jan. 29 and 30, then travels to Kentucky for stops in Louisville and Lexington on Saturday before finishing in Huntington.

Scheduled to appear at all six stops are Reds pitching coach and Greenup County native Don Gullett, chief operating officer John Allen, new general manager Dan O'Brien, manager Dave Miley, senior special assistant and Wheelersburg native Gene Bennett and Hall of Fame announcer Marty Brennaman.

Veteran pitcher Todd Van Poppel, infielder/outfielder Ryan Freel, and rookie relief pitching sensation Ryan Wagner are to make the trip to Huntington.

Also on hand will be mascot Mr. Red along with front office representatives who will be available to discuss season tickets and group sales.

Fans will be able to interact with players, coaches and officials. All stops are free and open to the public.

Attending the stop at Frickers in West Carrollton will be newly-acquired right-handed pitcher Cory Lidle, highly-touted left-handed pitcher Brandon Claussen and the organization's Minor League Player of the Year, which will be announced at the LaSalle High School Stag on Wednesday, Jan.

Thursday, Jan. 29 - Frickers in West Carrollton (Dayton area), 5-7 p.m.;

Friday, Jan. 30 - Lima Mall in Lima, noon to 2 p.m.; Flannagans in Dublin (Columbus area), 5-7 p.m.;

Saturday, Jan. 31 - Louisville Slugger Museum, 10 a.m. to noon; Malone's in Lansdowne Shoppes in Lexington, 2-3 p.m.; Lazarus Dome at Huntington Mall, 6-7:30 p.m.
