PEDRO - Next time, coach Chad Belville will have to set the alarm clock an hour earlier.

After struggling for three quarters, the Chesapeake Lady Panthers came to life in the fourth quarter and rallied to beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 45-36 Monday.

"This was our third game in five days, and for three quarters we were sleepwalking," Belville said. "We finally caught fire in the fourth quarter and we hit some free throws."

The late rally gave Chesapeake an 8-6 record overall and left the Lady Panthers tied with Fairland for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference at 4-1.

Brittany Boyle scored 19 points for Chesapeake. Joanna Delimpo added six points and eight rebounds.

"Boyle had a big game. It's good to see her back on track shooting the ball," Belville said.

Chesapeake senior guard Lisa Perry had eight points, six assists and five steals. She now has 300 career steals, 22nd on the all-time Ohio high school list and has already eclipsed 500 assists.

Rock Hill (3-7, 2-3) was led by Marie Bamer with 17 points. Keshia Rupp added nine points and Monica Bamer eight.

Marie Bamer scored six points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took a 10-9 lead.

In the second quarter, Boyle hit a 3-pointer, Rucker had a putback and Candace Dickerson got four points as Chesapeake took a 21-18 lead.

Boyle's 3-pointer was the only Chesapeake basket

in the third quarter while Rock Hill took a 25-24 lead.

"We didn't score, but we were lucky to hold them down, too," Belville said.

Rock Hill took the lead at 26-24 to start the fourth quarter, but Rice scored to tie the game and a steal and layup by Perry stretched the lead to 30-26.

Delimpo had all six of her points in the quarter and Rucker blocked three shots. Boyle converted 5 of 6 from the line down the stretch.

"The blocked shots got us going and we forced them to take some shots they didn't want to take," Belville said.
