Lady Pointers hold off River Valley

CHESHIRE - The end of the first half made the difference at the end of the game.

The South Point Lady Pointers used a scoring spurt at the end of the first half to take a nine-point lead and held off the River Valley Lady Raiders 63-57 Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

With the score tied 25-25 at the 2:30 mark of the second quarter, South Point went on a 12-3 run to take a 37-28 halftime lead.

River Valley came back to get within three points with less than a minute to play, but an intentional foul sent Alisha Bridges to the line. Bridges made both shots with 39 seconds to play and Latisha Koukos added an insurance foul shot moments later to seal the outcome.

Jessi Craft had 17 points and seven rebounds for South Point. Amy Frasure came off the bench to score 11 points and Koukos added 10.

South Point is 4-8 overall and remains one game back in the OVC race at 3-2.

Ashley Caldwell had a game-high 20 points for the Raiders to go with 10 rebounds. Beth Payne and Kristina Naylor had 14 points each for River Valley, 2-10 and 2-3.
