Lady Bobcats rip New Boston

NEW BOSTON - Road wins are good at most places. Others are even better.

The Green Lady Bobcats picked up a road win at one of the toughest Southern Ohio Conference venues as they routed the New Boston Lady Tigers 74-53 Thursday.

"It's always tough to win at New Boston. I'd take a one-point win, so this is really something special," Green coach Melissa Knapp said.

Traci Elrod had 20 points to lead four players in double figures for Green (4-11, 4-7 SOC). Heidi Tackett had 16 points, Meagan Pierce 11 and Alista Hall added 10.

Abby Marshall scored 22 points, Jessica Waugh 17 and Megan Lancaster 12 for New Boston.

Elrod scored eight points in the first quarter as Green took a 17-14 lead. Marshall and Waugh had six points each to keep the game close.

But Tackett had eight points in the second quarter as Green built a 36-24 halftime lead.

The Lady Bobcats outscored New Boston 21-9 in the third quarter as Tackett scored six more points and the lead was 57-33.

Elrod had seven more points in the fourth quarter while Waugh had eight for New Boston.
