PEDRO - It was a night for the seniors, but the underclassmen helped make it and even better night.

Early foul trouble hurt Rock Hill, but key plays from their bench helped the Redwomen Thursday night as they upset the Fairland Lady Dragons 51-48 in double overtime to throw the Ohio Valley Conference into a two-way tie for first place.

"It was a good night for us. It was senior night, but we had some young kids come in and do a good job for us," Redwomen coach Bob Wilds said.

"We got some big contributions from Brittany (Ross), Kelsey Harris, and Courtney and Tara Sharp. They all came in and gave us some good minutes."

The Fairland loss sets up a showdown Saturday night for sole possession of first place as the Lady Dragons host South Point. Both teams are 6-2 in the league.

Seniors Marie Bamer, Monica Bamer and Keshia Rupp led Rock Hill (6-10, 4-4). Marie Bamer had 16 points and 16 rebounds, Rupp got 12 points and four steals, and Monica Bamer added six points and seven rebounds.

Kristen Berry had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Fairland (10-7). Megan Fisher scored 12 points while Kara Riley added nine points and 15 rebounds.

Regulation ended at 39-39 and each team scored eight points in the first overtime to make it 47-47.

Fairland went up 48-47 to start the second overtime, but Harris made a layup with nine seconds left to put Rock Hill up 49-48. Rupp then stole the ball with six seconds to go, was fouled and sank both free throws to set the final score.

The Redwomen were 15 of 31 from the foul line while Fairland was 24 of 35, but just 10 of 20 the second half. The Lady Dragons were only 11 of 71 from the field for 15.5 percent.

"We knew it would be tough to win the conference and we knew it would be hard to win here," Fairland coach Nathan Speed said. "But we have to forget about this game and get ready for South Point."

Rock Hill was just 9 of 22 from the line in the two overtimes.

"We have to shoot better than that in close game. But we've been in so many close games that we've lost, it was nice to win a close one," Wilds said.

Brianna Davis and Fisher had seven points each in the first quarter as Fairland went up 19-12. Monica Bamer and Courtney Sharp scored four each for the Redwomen.

Berry was 6 of 6 from the line in the second quarter, but Rupp had seven points and Ross came off the bench and got four more as Rock Hill got within 30-25 at the break.

Fairland was 14 of 15 from the line in the first half.

The scoring was virtually absent in the third quarter as Rock Hill outscored Fairland 5-0 to tie the game. The Lady Dragons were 0-for-14 from the field.

Marie Bamer scored five points and Harper got all three of her points in the fourth quarter as each team scored nine points.
