CHESHIRE - The River Valley Raiders saved their best for last.

The Raiders used some hot shooting in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Fairland Dragons and post a 65-47 Ohio Valley Conference win Friday.

Fairland trailed just 41-37 after three quarter, but then made just 4 of 16 field goal attempts in the fourth quarter as River Valley was 9 of 17 from the field in the quarter and 4 of 6 at the line.

"Our kids played well and gave a better effort, but we River Valley just shot the ball well late. And we were hurt with some foul trouble early," Fairland coach John McClung said.

Jeremy Pritt had 14 points to lead the Dragons (6-9, 2-5). Nolan Love scored 11 points, Matt Clark had nine points, seven rebounds, and two steals, and Kendall Staggs had four assists.

River Valley (6-10, 5-3) was paced by Steven Harder with 14 points and five rebounds. Colby Reese had 13 points and 13 rebounds, Chris Brown 10 points, and Jared Swain got 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

Pritt had four points in the first quarter to give Fairland a 10-9 lead.

Brown scored all his points in the second quarter and Fairland was guilty of 13 turnovers as River Valley roared to a 30-21 halftime lead.

Daniel Spears and Clark had five points each in the third quarter as Fairland closed the gap to 41-37, but then came the disastrous fourth quarter.

Reese had nine and Harder six to spark the scoring outburst in the fourth quarter that included a 10-0 run to begin the quarter by the Raiders.

In the reserve game, River Valley won 51-41. Travis Cardwell scored 17 for Fairland.
