Bobcats coach Kevin Lewis said another good defensive effort was the key, especially the fourth quarter when Green held Eastern to a mere two points.

"It's another sign that we're heading in the right direction," Lewis said. "We went to Eastern's home floor and held

them to 40 points.

"Defensively, we got it done. Offensively, we were one point from putting four people in double figures. We're getting good balance and all our kids are finding a way to contribute."

Top contributors on offense were Derek Lewis with 16 points and four assists, Timmy Yarnell 13 points and 10 rebounds, Aaron Patten 10 points and Brian Ramey nine points and seven rebounds.

"It was a good team win. The defense played well and the offense played as a team. Jason Bester didn't score but he had a good game for us. Our people understand that there are ways to contribute to a win without scoring and they're finding ways to do it," Lewis said.

Zach Alexander scored 15 points to pace Eastern while Adam Bond scored 12.

Derek Lewis scored five points in the first quarter as Green took a 19-15 lead. Alexander had six to keep the Eagles close.

Ramey got five points in the second quarter to offset four by Bond as Green went up 30-25 at the half.

In the third, Yarnell got five points and the Bobcats moved in front 45-38. Alexander and Bond had six each for the Eagles.

But the defense put the clamps on the Eagles in the fourth quarter. Patten had five points while Eastern managed just a field goal by Eric Gullett.
