PEDRO - Things were going well, and then the third quarter arrived.

After shooting well the first half, the Rock Hill Redwomen struggled in the third quarter and the Portsmouth Lady Trojans went on to a 54-41 win Saturday.

Rock Hill trailed by just six points at the half, then shot 3 of 17 from the field in the third quarter as Portsmouth expanded its lead to 41-30.

"We didn't shoot well the third quarter after shooting about 45 percent the first half. That got us out of our rhythm and we never got back in it," Rock Hill coach Bob Wilds said.

Another factor was Portsmouth's Brya Coleman, who hit four 3-pointers and scored 12 points.

"The four 3s by Coleman were the difference," Wilds said.

The Redwomen had three players in double figures as Marie Bamer, Bobbi Harper and Mandy McKenzie scored 10 points each. Marie Bamer had seven rebounds and McKenzie six while Monica Bamer had four steals.

Tonya McKenzie finished with 18 points and Ali Hull 17 to pace Portsmouth (12-4).

Marie Bamer, Harper and McKenzie all scored four points in the first quarter and it was 15-15.

Portsmouth pulled away to a 29-23 halftime lead, then took advantage of Rock Hill's poor shooting in the third quarter to open up its lead.
