Harmon pitches SV girls to win

AID - Lori Harmon is at it again.

Harmon pitched a two-hitter Wednesday as the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings beat the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 4-0 in softball action.

Harmon struck out 16 and walked just one in going the distance. Tracy Mays struck out seven, walked four and gave up just six hits in taking the loss.

The Lady Vikings got the only run they needed in the first inning.

Stephanie Burns singled, stole second, went to third when Harmon grounded out and came home on a hit by Kayla Bowman.

The lead went to 3-0 in the second inning.

Erin Martin walked to start the inning and moved to second on Kristen Crabtree's sacrifice bunt. A throwing error on the play put runners on the corners.

Jodi Black was safe on an error scoring a run and Crabtree went to third and later scored on a squeeze bunt by Megan Coomes.

Symmes Valley got its final run in the third when Harmon reached on an error, moved up when Bowman singled, went to third when Rebecca Capper hit into a fielder's choice and scored on a wild pitch.

Symmes Valley, 10-2, plays at Latham Western Thursday in a league game.
