PEDRO - It was a classic game of stare down - and then River Valley blinked.

Locked in a scoreless duel, Rock Hill used a River Valley error to score the only run as the Redwomen took a 1-0 Ohio Valley Conference softball win Monday.

Rock Hill got the game's only run in the seventh inning and made a winner of freshman pitcher Bobbi Harper. Gerri McFann took the loss as both pitchers allowed just one hit.

"It was an exciting game and it just got down to that last inning. They made one mistake and that was the difference," Redwomen coach Mary Harper said.

Bobbi Harper struck out seven and did not walk a batter. McFann had nine strikeouts and didn't issue a base on balls.

"That's probably the best game Bobbi's pitched all season. And Gerri McFann pitched well. Both pitchers did a great job and both defenses played well," Harper said.

Rock Hill got the game's only run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Cassie Chaffins bunted for base hit to lead off the inning. Mandy Estep put down a sacrifice bunt to send Chaffins to second. Keshia Rupp was safe on an error and the runners were on the corners.

A bad pickoff throw at third base allowed Chaffins to come home with the winning run.

Rock Hill is 15-4 overall and 4-3. The Redwomen host Fairland Tuesday in a key league game.
