PORTSMOUTH - The initials "C.B." aren't very popular with the Portsmouth Notre Dame Titans.

Caleb Bland and Cory Burcham both homered to lead the Symmes Valley Vikings to an 11-9 win over the Titans Wednesday in the Southern Ohio Conference finale.

Bland belted a grand slam while Burcham had a home run and a triple to help the Vikings improve to 14-5 overall and finish 12-4 in the SOC.

"We hit the ball well and that was the difference. This was a good win," Vikings coach John Patterson said.

Notre Dame went up 1-0 in the second inning, but the Vikings came back with two in the top of the third inning.

Kyle Gilmore singled and Burcham tripled for the first run. Justin Holland was safe on an error as Burcham scored.

The Titans tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, but the Vikings got two in the fourth when Gilmore singled and Burcham homered.

Notre Dame scored a run in the fourth to trail 4-3, then scored twice in the fifth inning to go in front 5-4.

But the Vikings erupted for seven runs in the sixth inning to take an 11-5 lead.
