An Ironton woman on probation for a previous drug conviction is scheduled to appear in Ironton Municipal Court today in connection with new drug charges.
Deanna Michelle Lewis Saxton, 30, of 315 Mulberry St., was arrested early Friday morning by Ironton Police and officers with the Adult Probation Agency. She was charged with trafficking in drugs as well as a probation violation.
Ironton police detective Jim Akers said authorities had gone to Saxton's residence to arrest her on an alleged probation violation. They located her in a car in the alley near her residence. While arresting her for the probation violation, authorities allegedly found eight grams of crack cocaine in her purse.
A man who was in the car with Saxton, Curtis Dorsey, 28, of Portsmouth, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Scioto County. Dorsey was transported to Scioto County and Saxton was taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
Saxton was arrested in October 2003 on drug charges after authorities raided her residence. When she pleaded guilty to those charges later that month, Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Richard Walton ordered Lewis to successfully undergo drug rehabilitation at the Rural Women's Recovery Program and then sentenced her to four years community controlled sanctions under intensive supervised probation.
