Summer may be nearly here but children will have to wait before they can dive into the Ironton swimming pool.

Originally scheduled to open Memorial Day, Mayor John Elam was disappointed to announce that the Ironton Mitch Morgan Municipal Swimming Pool on Bob Lutz Way will not be able to open for at least a few days, maybe longer.

The city only received one bid to manage the facility - from long-time manager Corky Salyer. However, all the paperwork was not included so the city will have to get the problem resolved before opening the pool, Elam said.

"Hopefully, we will be able to resolve this issue within a week," he said. "If not we may have to rebid, which I believe is a 5-week process."
