Several drug offenders sentenced

Several Columbus residents arrested in Lawrence County on drug charges were sentenced last week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Frank McCown sentenced Chezsirray Owensby, 19, to four years in prison on a charge of first-degree felony trafficking of crack cocaine, four years in prison to a charge of first-degree felony possession of crack cocaine

and 11 months in prison on a charge of third-degree felony possession of crack cocaine. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Additionally, McCown ordered Owensby to pay a total of $11,250 in fines and suspended his driver's licenses for four years. Owensby was given credit for time served. As part of his sentence, $1,282 in cash seized from Owensby at the time of his arrest will be forfeited and turned over to the Lawrence County Drug Task Force.

Owensby was arrested in March

and pleaded guilty last month to the charges against him. At that time, a pre-sentence investigation was ordered.

Ernest Lunsford, 35, pleaded guilty last Wednesday to first-degree felony possession of crack cocaine, fifth-degree felony possession of crack cocaine and fourth-degree felony possession of powder cocaine. Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Richard Walton ordered Lunsford to serve four years in prison on the first charge, 11 months on the second and 17 months on the third. Those sentences will be served concurrently.

Walton also ordered Lunsford to pay a total of $12,500 in fines and ordered him to forfeit $571.64 in cash seized from him at the time of his arrest. A handgun found in his possession at the time of his arrest was turned over to the drug task force and will be destroyed.

Lunsford was ordered to report to authorities July 7. Lunsford was arrested in a drug sweep in February.

Larry Vinson, 30, pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of first-degree felony trafficking in crack cocaine, first-degree felony possession of crack and fifth-degree felony possession of criminal tools. McCown ordered Vinson to serve four years on each of the first two charges and 11 months on the third charge. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Additionally, $540 in cash confiscated at the time of Vinson's arrest will be forfeited to the drug task force. Vinson was arrested with Owensby in March.

Carlton A. Davis, 32, pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of trafficking in crack cocaine, both fifth-degree felonies, and four counts of trafficking in crack cocaine, all fourth-degree felonies. McCown ordered a pre-sentence investigation.

Delane Brown, 25, was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to third-degree felony trafficking in crack cocaine, 11 months for pleading guilty to fifth-degree felony trafficking in crack cocaine,

four years for pleading guilty to third-degree felony complicity to trafficking in crack cocaine, four years for pleading guilty to third-degree felony trafficking in crack cocaine, four years for pleading guilty to third-degree felony complicity to trafficking in crack cocaine and 11 months for fourth- degree felony trafficking in crack cocaine. Walton ordered all of the sentences to run concurrently.

Additionally, Brown was ordered to surrender his driver's license for four years, to pay $22,250 in fines and forfeit $1,709 confiscated at the time of his arrest.

All of the men were given credit for time served.
