LAVALETTE, W.Va. - Dennis Gagai is starting to feel like Phil Mickelson.

Gagai had his second straight runner-up effort Friday on the second stop of the Tri-State Junior Golf Circuit.

The Ironton golfer was second in the first flight of the 16-18 age division with a 75, three strokes behind winner David Mays.

Also in the 16-18 age group were Proctorville's Matt Leadmon with a 94 and Ironton Nick Boggess with a 96.

In the 13-15 age division, Chesapeake's Justin Lewis had a 79, Ironton's Nathan Kerns an 80 and Ironton's Alex Brown and 83.

Others in the division included Tyler Angle of Chesapeake with an 89, Proctorville's Bryon Huff a 90, Brandon Scott of Chesapeake 95, and Ian Russell of Proctorville a 103.

Proctorville's Brennan Anderson shot a 44 and finished tied for third place in the 10-12 age group, then lost on the first playoff hole to Eric Kennedy.

Zac Taylor of South Point shot a 47, J.B. Albright of Proctorville a 49, Ronnie Lynd of South Point had a 50, Chesapeake's Roger Hoback 52, Ironton's Andy Holtzapfel carded a 53, Luke Marlowe of South Point 55, and Matt Angle of Chesapeake had a 57.

The next tournament stop is Tuesday, June 29, at Sugarwood Golf Club. Entry deadline is 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 26.
