CINCINNATI - First baseman Sean Casey, who left Sunday's game with a strained right calf, was examined by a doctor on Monday and the timing of his return to action is uncertain, the Cincinnati Reds said.

Dr. Timothy Kremchek, the Reds' medical director, examined and treated Casey at the Beacon Orthopaedic Center. Casey's status remains day-to-day, Reds spokesman Rob Butcher said.

Casey is tied with Barry Bonds for the NL batting lead with an average of .352.
