Brown and Meyers tops at hog show

ROME TOWNSHIP - One hundred thirty-seven swine competed in Tuesday's market hog show at the Lawrence County Fair. In the end, one named "Weenie" hogged the grand champion trophy.

"Weenie" and its owner, Corey Brown, of Gingham and Denim 4-H club, took the top spot, followed by reserve champion Adam Meyers of Symmes Valley FFA, who also took third place with another hog.

"I like the presentation done by all," judge David Runyan, of Bellefountaine, said after he evaluated the entries. "You've all done very well. This is very well organized."

Rounding out the top 10 were: fourth place: Heather Gore, fifth place Kayla Ross, sixth place: Kelli Jenkins, seventh place: Josh Craft, eighth place: Jonathan Dickess, ninth place: Joey Stallo and tenth place: Nick Howard.

In the hog skillathon, Luke Taylor took first place, followed by Sammy Meyers and Chelsey Wall in second and third places respectively in the junior division.

In the intermediate division, Sarak Brock collected the top spot, while Lindsey Daniels and Kathryn Myers collected the second and third places, respectively. In the senior division, Brian Salmons collected the trophy for first place, while Chris Ridenour and Joey Stallo garnered second and third places, respectively.
