FT. GAY, W.Va. - In a game full of offense, it was big defensive plays that made the difference.

The Fairland Dragons and Tolsia Rebels each had more than 300 yards offense, but defensive plays enabled Tolsia to come away with a 22-19 win Saturday night.

Fairland quarterback Michael Hill was just 16 of 44 passing for 269 yards. The Dragons (1-3) had only 35 yards rushing.

Tolsia (3-1) racked up 353 yards rushing and 399 total yards. B.J. Evans ran 26 times for 195 yards and Jonathan Caudill had 124 yards on 20 attempts.

The Dragons scored on the third play of the game as Hill hooked up with Sam Huff on a 77-yard scoring play and it was 6-0.

The Rebels came back to take a 7-6 lead on a 54-yard run by Evans who also kicked the point after.

Brad Malone forced a fumble and Hill picked up the loose ball and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown as Fairland regained the lead at 12-7.

Caudill's 6-yard scoring run capped a 70-yard, six-play drive in the second quarter and Tolsia led 14-12.

An interception by Huff with three seconds left in the half stopped a Tolsia drive at the 3-yard line.

In the third quarter, Hill was rolling out when he started to throw the ball and it slipped out of his hand. Jeremy Block was there to tackle Hill for a safety and it was 16-12.

The lead went to 22-12 on a 15-yard run by Caudill. The short 16-yard drive was set up by Block's fumble recovery at the 16.

Hill capped an 80-yard, 16-play march with a 5-yard run and the Dragons were within 22-19 after Trenton Moore's PAT kick with 6:51 to play.

But Block intercepted a pass with 33 seconds left at the 26-yard line to end Fairland's comeback hopes.

Wes Ripley had 15 tackles to lead the Fairland defense.
