WILLOW WOOD - Turn it over and turn it up.

The Symmes Valley Vikings forced seven turnovers and racked up a 34-0 Southern Ohio Conference win Friday over the Oak Hill Oaks.

Symmes Valley intercepted four passes and recovered three fumbles. Seth Saunders had two interceptions, one he returned 32 yards for a touchdown.

The Vikings first team defense held the Oaks to minus yardage.

"All our kids blocked and tackled well," Vikings coach Rusty Webb said.

Symmes Valley racked up 245 yards rushing and 289 total yards. Craig Neal had 77 yards on eight carries, Cory Burcham 60 yards on 10 carries, and Derek Carpenter added 54 yards on eight attempts.

"Cory Burcham had one of his better games. He didn't have the yardage, but he had two long runs called back. That's always encouraging to get him going. Carpenter, Holland, Neal all had solid ball games," Webb said.

The only drawback for the Vikings was 13 penalties for 195 yards.

"We need to be more disciplined, but all of those penalties were aggressive penalties. We were worried the week off would be a problem. We didn't know how it would effect us. We were aggressive on both sides of the ball."

Burcham had a 5-yard touchdown run and Neal added the conversion as the Vikings took an 8-0 lead with 5:54 left in the first quarter.

The lead went to 15-0 when Neal scooted 16 yards and Burcham kicked the point after just before the end of quarter.

Saunders interception return pushed the lead to 22-0 and Neal bolted 37 yards for a touchdown as the lead grew to 28-0 before the half.

The final score was a 33-yard pass from Neal to Derrek Cremeans with 8:18 left in the third quarter.

Symmes Valley, 3-1 and 1-0 in the SOC, plays at Green next Friday in a league game.
