Chesapeake volleyball improving

CHESAPEAKE - Improvement has been the key word for the Chesapeake Lady Panthers.

Although the Lady Panthers dropped three volleyball matches this week, the Lady Panthers showed considerable improvement.

On Monday, Chesapeake lost at Ironton 6-25, 25-12, 19-25 and 22-25. Cassie Colley had 20 points and Noelle Wood 7 kills to pace the Lady Panthers.

Tuesday was an Ohio Valley Conference match at South Point that saw the Lady Pointers drop the first set and then rally for the win.

South Point won 23-25, 25-9, 25-20 and 25-17 as Summer Malone had 21 points and Jauna Kipp 18. Francesca Karle had 19 points and Wood 8 kills for Chesapeake.

South Point won the reserve match 25-11, 25-15.

River Valley also needed four sets to beat the Lady Panthers Thursday in an OVC match, 25-19, 21-25, 25-9 and 25-15.

Karle had 17 points and Colley 14 for Chesapeake while Wood hammered 7 kills. Beth Payne had 22 points and 14 kills for River Valley.

Chesapeake plays at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Portsmouth.
