"The victim was located in the living room of the residence with his body partially on a mattress. The scene was found to be in disarray with a large amount of blood at the scene," Lawrence County Sheriff Tim Sexton said in the written statement at the time of the murder. "It does appear the victim died as a result of multiple stab wounds."

Burks allegedly confessed to the crime shortly after his apprehension, according to sheriff's office information.

Burks was arrested by the Huntington Police Department Tuesday evening and was taken to the Regional Jail in Barboursville while awaiting extradition back to Lawrence County.

Burks also faces charges in West Virginia of fleeing and eluding and battery on a police officer stemming from an incident at the time of his arrest.

Wilson's death is the latest in a string of murders that have occurred in Lawrence County within the last couple of months.
