When Kathy Kratzenberg was elected to the Ironton City Schools Board of Education last fall, she promised to be actively involved in improving the district and apparently she wasn't kidding.

Kratzenberg has donated a new projector to Kingsbury Elementary School, using the money she is paid each month as a board member - $100.

She began receiving checks in January, but waited to cash them until she had enough to buy the equipment, approximately $900.

"Kathy is just an incredible person," Massie said. "She's taken time to help in our library and she's not getting paid a penny for this. We're truly blessed to have her."

Kratzenberg was more modest in her assessment of her donation. "I ran for the school board to work from the inside out," Kratzenberg said. "I know it isn't much, but every little bit helps."

The new projector was purchased a month ago and has been used twice already.

"We used it in our Veteran's Day program and our awards assembly," Kingsbury principal Annette Massie said.

Kratzenberg said she plans to use future monies to purchase projectors for other schools that need them and to buy books and other supplies.
