CINCINNATI (AP) - Xavier's Brandon Cole tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will miss the rest of the season.

Cole, a 6-foot-8 sophomore who was the Musketeers' top post player off the bench, hurt the knee during a 66-54 loss Monday night to Miami of Ohio. Tests on Tuesday detected the injury. He'll have surgery within a few weeks.

Cole played in all 37 games last season, when Xavier reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament. The Musketeers were counting on him to provide help off the bench again this season after Boubacar Coly, a 6-foot-9 freshman forward, suffered a season-ending knee injury.
