Michigan men arrested for drugs, stolen property charges

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP- Three Michigan men are behind bars today, charged in connection with the theft of a car and with drug possession.
The driver of the car, Derek Chatman, 39, of Sterling Heights, was charged with speeding, receiving stolen property, DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Two passengers, Terrance Haliburton, 45, and James Griggs, 32, both of Detroit, were each charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Haliburton was also charged with possession of marijuana. They were lodged in the Lawrence County Jail.
All three men are scheduled to appear in Ironton Municipal Court today for arraignment.
According to Ohio State Highway Patrol reports, trooper Chad Canter observed
a 2001 Chevrolet four-door traveling at a high rate of speed early Tuesday morning in the westbound lanes of U.S. 52 near milepost 3 and pulled it over.
A check of the car's licenses plates revealed the vehicle had been stolen.
A search of the car and its occupants revealed a unknown quantity of marijuana and some drug paraphernalia.
