"Santa's

Version of 'The Nutcracker'"

and "The Reason for the Season" featured several dozen area students of the Yvonne DeKay School of Dance.

The Nutcracker re-write, penned by De Kay, tells the story of how the Sugar Plum Fairy helps Santa and his elves fill orders for toys in time for Christmas.

"We've done some type of Christmas performance for the last 30 years and about seven years ago, the kids said 'why don't we do our own Nutcracker,'" DeKay said. "So I came up with this story."

Linsy Hunt played the part of the Snow Queen.

She said she hoped the holiday performance put people in the right frame of mind to enjoy the season.

"I hope it put them in a happy mood," Hunt said. "I hope they watched the show and it put them in a Christmasy mood."
