PORTSMOUTH - The St. Joseph Female Flyers may have added a few more jabs to their scoring punch.

Christina Harvey, who carries the bulk of the scoring load, had 16 points in a 56-35 win Wednesday over the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans.

However, Harvey got some scoring help as sophomore Raven Blake had 18 points and freshman Danielle Blair 12 points

in the win.

"Raven Blake shot the ball well. That was probably her best game of the season. Christina played well again and Danielle scored well for us," Flyers coach B.J. Hannon said. "We're starting to play a little better defensively."

Heather Chatfield led Notre Dame (0-5) with 11 points.

Notre Dame took a 4-0 lead to start the game before St. Joseph went on an 8-0 run to lead including a basket by Blake with 3:47 on the clock that gave St. Joseph the lead for good.

The Female Flyers went up 16-10 at the 1:09 mark as Harvey scored inside. The lead was 18-12 at the end of the quarter.

Harvey's short hook shot in the lane made it 26-16 with 5:09 left in the half and it was 29-18 on a basket by Blake.

Charleigh Haas scored with one minute left in the half to put St. Joseph ahead 31-18.

Blake and Harvey had two baskets each and Lindsay Dressel hit a jumper as the lead went to 40-18 to begin the second half.

A 3-pointer by Chatfield ended the Titans drought, but St. Joseph scored 6 unanswered points and St. Joseph was up 46-23 after three quarters.

St. Joseph went up 50-23 to start the fourth quarter on a pair of free throws by Sarah Webb with 5:47 left to play. Chatfield scored 6 straight points to cut the deficit to 50-29, but that was as close as the Lady Titans could get.

"It's a good win for our confidence and we're starting to improve. Our players are starting to understand their roles and they're accepting them which is making us a better team," Hannon said.

"Mallory Hasenauer doesn't have the big numbers, but she does a lot of things to that make a difference. She really battles on the boards. And Sarah Webb came in and did some good things for us."
