"We just dug ourselves too big of a hole early," Green coach Kevin Sheridan said. "Coming off

of last night's game and coming back to play (Saturday), we basically just ran out of gas. But the positive is we never quit."

Ben Holbrook and Justin Harper helped Elliot County jump in front 27-13 at the end of the first quarter.

Brian Ramey, who scored 7 points in the first quarter for Green, came back and got 8 more points in the second quarter as Green trailed 44-27 at the half.

Derek Lewis hit two 3-pointers and scored 15 points in the third quarter as Green rallied to outscore Elliot County 24-13 and trailed just 57-51.

But Elliot County was able to hit some key shots and close off the Green comeback bid.

Lewis led Green with 21 points, six assists and three steals. Brian Ramey had 20 points and seven rebounds, and John Dawson grabbed six rebounds.

Holbrook scored 21 points and Harper 18.

Green travels to Fairview, Ky. Tuesday.
