PEDRO — The big men came up big.

Chase McWhorter, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, Jeremiah Taylor, a 6-5 junior, and J.T. Terry, a 6-3 junior, combined for 49 points as the South Point Pointers raced past the Rock Hill Redmen 64-46 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

McWhorter scored a game-high 25 points and Terry and Taylor had 12 each as the Pointers evened their OVC record at 1-1 with their first win in five games.

The Pointers used their inside game to shoot 76 percent from the field for the game.

K.C. Christian had 17 points and three assists to pace the Redmen (2-3, 0-2). Nick Snavely added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Taylor scored 7 points in the first quarter as South Point jumped in front 21-7. Mark DePriest had 3 of the Redmen points.

The Pointers continued their scoring in the second quarter as McWhorter had 11 points and it was 42-22 at the break. Christian, Snavely and Derek Robinson had 5 points each for the Redmen.

In the third quarter, McWhorter came back to score 12 points as South Point extended its lead to 63-35.

South Point ran a stall game in the fourth quarter and had just 3 points. Christian scored 7 points in the quarter for Rock Hill.

The Redmen host Ohio Valley Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Ohio Valley Christian does not have a junior varsity team.

South Point hosts Cross Lanes Christian Tuesday.
