CHESAPEAKE - There's something to be said for being early.

"We jumped out early and executed well getting the ball inside," Chesapeake coach John McClung said.

"Noelle Wood and Sara Rucker scored when they got the ball inside, and Alysson Baise and Joanna Delimpo gave us what we need from them every night to be a good team."

Rucker scored 5 points in the first quarter as Chesapeake (4-5) took a 13-4 lead. Wood had 5 more in the second quarter as the lead went to 26-8 at the half.

Candace Dickerson scored 4 points in the third quarter as the Lady Panthers extended the lead to 38-16.

"It was a good team effort. Everyone was passing to the open man. It's what we've been trying to do all year," McClung said.

Wood and Rucker scored 10 points each and Baise had eight rebounds. Veronica Perko handed out four assists and Brittney Sowards had four steals.

Chesapeake, 4-5, plays Vinton County at 5:45 p.m. Monday at the Logan Invitational.
