HAMLIN, W.Va. - Alisha Bridges and Jessi Craft took turns and the South Point Lady Pointers took the Armstrong Classic championship Monday.

Bridges scored 14 of her 16 points in the first half and Craft got most of her 18 points in the second half as the Lady Pointers beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 53-42 in the tournament finals.

"The first half was Bridges and the second half was Craft," Lady Pointers coach Dave Adams said.

"It's always tough playing Fairland. It's always a physical game. They came out fired up the third quarter and just got after it."

Summer Malone and Bridges combined for 8 points in the first quarter while Megan Auxier hit a 3-pointer for Fairland and it was 11-11.

In the second quarter, Bridges drained three shots from behind the 3-point line and scored 11 points as South Point outscored Fairland 18-3 to take a 29-14 lead at the break.

Brianna Davis scored 9 points and Auxier 4 in the third quarter as Fairland outscored South Point 13-5 and cut the deficit to 34-27.

Davis scored 9 more points and Jennifer Legg and Auxier each hit 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, but Craft exploded for 14 points including 6 of 9 from the foul line as South Point pulled away to the win.

"We're starting to hit our free throws, especially down the stretch," Adams said.

South Point will host its own Holiday Tournament Wednesday and Thursday. Fairland plays Northwest at 6 p.m. Wednesday followed by Portsmouth and South Point.
