PEDRO - Imagine what they could do if they played four quarters?

The Chesapeake Panthers' first team played just two quarters and the bench did the rest as they toppled the Rock Hill Redmen 60-24 Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Chesapeake's first unit outscored Rock Hill 34-6 en route to its 10th win against no losses. Coupled with Coal Grove's loss to Fairland, the Panthers now lead the OVC with a 4-0 record.

"We did what we had to. We played good defense early. Quarters one and three, when we had our first team in, we gave up only 6 points," Panthers coach Norm Persin said.

Justin Porter had 13 points to lead a balanced offense. P.J. Rase and Jeff Thornburg scored 8 points each. Rase also had six assists and Trent Finley four.

"Our ball movement was good. We had a lot of assists, especially in the open floor," Persin said. "We were real active on the offensive boards with Porter and (Dustin) O'Brien."

Brian Skaggs and Mark DePriest had 8 points apiece to pace the Redmen (3-8, 0-5).

Porter scored 6 points in the first quarter as Chesapeake jumped out to a 17-2 lead. It was 24-2 before the Redmen got 6 points from Skaggs on a pair of 3-pointers to trail 28-12 at the break. Matt Whitmore had 5 points in the quarter for the Panthers.

In the third quarter, Chesapeake almost duplicated its first quarter performance with Porter getting 7 points and the Panthers outscoring the Redmen 17-4 to lead 45-16 at the end of the quarter.

Thornburg had all of his points in the fourth quarter to offset 4 points by DePriest as the Panthers continued to pad their lead.

Rock Hill fell to 3-8 and 0-5 in the OVC.
