ASHLAND, Ky. - When it comes to defending clients, Perry Mason and Ben

together would be quite a defense team.

When it comes to basketball, the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers aren't a bad defense team, either.

Ironton turned in a strong defensive effort to stun the East Carter Lady Raiders 48-30 in the Ashland Kittens Shootout Saturday.

East Carter (7-3) was just 11 of 44 from the field for 25 percent including 5 of 18 from the 3-point range. Ironton also dominated the rebounding 39-18.

"Our defense and rebounding was really good. We limited them to one shot and played well as a unit," said Ironton coach Amy Hughes.

"That was a real good win. East Carter is a good team. They're favored to go to the state tournament in their region. Other than a few 3s, we shut their offense down most of the game."

Sara Hacker had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Lady Fighting Tigers, now 13-1. Andrea Rudmann had 14 points and three steals while Mandi Boykin finished with 13 points and seven assists.
