SOUTH POINT - Just like the Taco Bell ad, the South Point Lady Pointers celebrated because they were full.

Fullcourt, that is.

Leading by just two points at the half, the Lady Pointers stepped up their pressure and beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 59-37 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference showdown.

"We didn't take care of the ball the first half. The second half we tried to make it more of a fullcourt game," Lady Pointers coach Dave Adams said.

"Our press sped the game up and that put (Jessi) Craft in the middle of the floor with the ball and she was able to take it to the basket."

Craft had a game-high 25 points to lead the Lady Pointers who took over sole possession of first place at 3-0. They are 10-2 overall.

Alisha Bridges had 13 points and Sarah Lee added 10 for South Point.

Chelsea Markins had 15 points and Samantha Hall 14 to pace Coal Grove, 7-3 and 2-1.

Coal Grove took a 7-6 lead in the first quarter on the strength of a Markins' 3-pointer, but Craft and Bridges combined for 11 points in the second quarter as South Point took a 21-19 halftime lead.

When Bridges picked up her fourth foul in the third quarter, Craft scored 12 points as South Point pulled away to a 37-27 lead.

"Our girls played hard all night, but Craft just took over the game," Lady Hornets coach Nick Miller said.

Bridges and Lee scored 6 points each and Craft 5 in the fourth quarter as South Point outscored Coal Grove 22-10. Bridges sank 4 of 5 from the foul line in the quarter.
