WILLOW WOOD - Coach Lisa Bryant gets her money's worth from her Symmes Valley Lady Vikings.

Battling down to the final buzzer, the Lady Vikings held on for a 45-42 win over the New Boston Lady Tigers Monday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

"Our kids never quit. This is the personality of this team. They never quit until the last second goes off the clock," Bryant said.

The game was tied 30-30 after three quarters. The score went back-and-forth until Rebecca Capper and Leslie Floyd hit crucial foul shots with less than a minute to play.

New Boston had possession with a chance to tie, but Capper stole the ball with 3.1 seconds left and was fouled. She made the free throw to set the final score.

"We did not shoot the ball well, although we got a lot of good looks," Bryant said. "Defensively, we did a pretty good job. The first half we did not rebound like we are capable, but we came out in the second half and

did a better job on the offensive and defensive boards.

Megan Coomes had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lady Vikings, 9-3 and 6-2 in the SOC. Brittney Wilson added 10 points

and Floyd had 8 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Abbey Marshall had 12 points, Sabrina Taylor to 11 and Jessica Waugh 10 to pace New Boston.

The Lady Vikings play a varsity -only game at Portsmouth Notre Dame at 6 p.m. next Monday.
