Panther wrestlers beat JC

CHESAPEAKE - It was a good measuring stick.
The Chesapeake Panthers wrestling team showed signs of improvement with a 45-34 win over Johnson Central (Ky.) Wednesday in a duel match.
"We scrimmaged them early and it was about even, so we're showing signs of improvement. I'm proud of them. They did a good job," Panthers coach Phil Davis said.
"(Eric) McWhorter had a big turnaround. Their kid pinned him at their place earlier in the year and he pinned the kid this time."
Chesapeake took eight weight classes in winning the match.
Chris Dempsey at 189 pounds, Brad Eldred at 171, Timmy Wentz at 160 ,Cameron Pearson at 152 and John Warner at 145 all won by pins for the Panthers.
The Panthers Grady Starkey won a decision at 103 and Joey Stallo got a win at 140 by forfeit.
Chesapeake wrestles at the Nitro (W.Va.) Invitational Friday and Saturday.
