BEAVER - Green coach Melissa Knapp said it wasn't hard to determine the reason why the Lady Bobcats lost 44-39 to the Beaver Eastern Lady Eagles Thursday.

The reason: 25 turnovers.

"The 25 turnovers were THE problem," Green coach Melissa Knapp said. "We led the whole game, and then we had a couple big turnovers at the end that cost us.

"We didn't seem ready to play. I don't know what it was, but it seemed something wasn't right when we left our gym for the game."

The loss was crippling for Green which knocked off previously unbeaten Clay on Monday. Green fell to 7-5 and 6-3 in the Southern Ohio Conference.

Elista Hall had 9 points in the first quarter as Green took a 13-12 lead. Rebecca Day scored 6 for Eastern.

Hall had 6 more points in the second quarter as the Lady Bobcats went up 23-20 at the break.

Jessica Dyer and Leigh Ann Williams got 4 points each in the third quarter, but Eastern cut the deficit to 31-30 at the end of the quarter.

Eastern outscored Green 14-8 in the fourth quarter to win 44-39.

"The fourth quarter was a letdown," Knapp said.

Hall had 17 points - 15 in the first half - and Leigh Ann Williams 12 points.

Day got 13 points and Brittney Helton had 11 for Eastern.
