SOUTH POINT - Going in put the South Point Pointers up.

Using their inside game, the Pointers beat the Fairland Dragons 53-30 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Jeremiah Taylor had 19 points and eight rebounds as the Pointers dominated the glass and inside scoring. South Point had 37 rounds to just 12 for the Dragons.

"We wanted to get the ball inside," Pointers coach Gary Norris said. "Taylor did a good job. He's really improved."

Besides Taylor, Chase McWhorter had eight rebounds, Joey Stevens seven and David Absher six. No one for Fairland had more than two rebounds.

"We said before the game we have to rebound and we have to play with intensity. We came out with very little emotion and they destroyed us on the boards. The two things we had to accomplish we didn't do," Fairland coach Chad Belville said.

"We didn't play well, but I'll take my fair share of the blame. I didn't coach well."

The Pointers led just 12-8 after the first quarter, but Taylor had 8 points and McWhorter and Ryan Hong 5 each in the second quarter as South Point opened up a 30-16 halftime cushion.

McWhorter scored all 9 of his points in the first half.

Taylor had 5 points in the third quarter to match the entire Fairland output as the lead ballooned to 44-21.

The win improved South Point's record to 4-8 overall and 2-3 in the OVC.

Fairland, 3-9 and 2-3, was led by Kyle Wise with 8 points and Todd Maynard had 7.
