The Chesapeake Panthers are in the driver's seat and they don't appear to be obeying any speed limits.

The Panthers continued their romp through the Ohio Valley Conference with a 78-49 win over the South Point Pointers Tuesday.

Chesapeake, ranked third in the Associated Press Division III poll, is now 13-0 overall and leads the OVC with a 6-0 record.

"We control our own destiny if we just play and don't look ahead," Panthers coach Norm Persin said. "We played a little better at times. South Point has improved."

P.J. Rase had 21 points with six assists to lead the Panthers. Trent Finley had 13 points, six assists and three steals while Justin Porter added 10 points. Brent Ransbottom scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

"Finley passed the ball extremely well, especially in traffic," Persin said. "And we shot the ball pretty well as a whole."

Chase McWhorter scored 21 points and Jeremiah Taylor 12 for the Pointers, 4-9 and 2-4.

Finley had 7 points in the first quarter as Chesapeake jumped out to a 21-10 lead. J.T. Terry had 7 of his 9 points in the quarter for South Point.

Rase scored 7 more points in the second quarter as Chesapeake opened up a 39-22 halftime advantage.

McWhorter had 11 of South Point's 16 points in the third quarter, but Porter helped offset the scoring spurt with 7 points and the Panthers extended their lead to 58-38.

Chesapeake outscored the Pointers 20-11 in the fourth quarter as Ransbottom had 5 points. Taylor got 7 for the Pointers.
