COAL GROVE - The South Point Lady Pointers took care of business.

The Lady Pointers did what was necessary as they beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 56-37 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

"That was by far the best we've taken care of the ball," Lady Pointers coach Dave Adams said of the team's eight turnovers.

"We played real consistent. The losses are starting to add up on the other teams. It's a matter of taking care of business from here on out."

Alisha Bridges scored 26 points as South Point ran its record to 14-2 overall and 6-0 in the OVC. Jessi Craft added 14 points and five assists while Latisha Koukos had 10 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.

Chelsea Markins scored 20 points and Samantha Hall 11 for Coal Grove, 11-7 and 4-4.

Bridges had 9 points as South Point took a 13-12 lead after the first quarter. Markins had 8 for Coal Grove.

Koukos had 5 points while Bridges and Craft each hit a 3-pointer in the second quarter and it was 28-24 at the break. Hall scored 9 points to keep the Lady Hornets close.

But in the third quarter, South Point held Coal Grove to just 5 points and Bridges scored 7 points as the lead grew to 43-29.

"The second half we changed up the presses a couple of times and we were more patient on offense," Adams said of the turnaround.

Bridges had 14 of her points in the second half.

"We played a good half again, but the second half we score only 13. We just have to learn to finish," Lady Hornets coach Nick Miller said. "We played hard the first half, but South Point is a good team. When they sense things are going their way, they jump on it."

In the reserve game, South Point won 29-22 as Whitney Damron scored 8 points. Caymie Collier and Tiffany Wallace had 6 each for the Hornets.
