Defense lifts Chesapeake by Redwomen

PEDRO - No points earned lots of points with Chesapeake Lady Panthers coach John McClung.

Although Veronica Perko had just 4 points, McClung gave her a lot of credit for the Lady Panthers 33-27 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redwomen Monday.

"Veronica Perko sparked us. She didn't score, but her hustle on the floor gave us a spark," McClung said. "Our offense just isn't doing it right now, but we played good defense."

Mandy McKenzie scored 12 points to lead the Redwomen (1-13, 0-8).

Wood had 3 points in the first quarter to offset 3 points by McKenzie as Chesapeake took a 13-8 lead.

Wood had 4 more points in the second quarter to push the lead to 21-10 at the half.
