Bobcats stop Western to notch another SOC win, 64-55

FRANKLIN FURNACE - A win is a win is a win.

Despite a lack of emotion, the Green Bobcats beat the Western Pike Indians 64-55 Friday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

"It's another 'W,' but that's about all you can say. We didn't play very inspired. We had a few stops late and we hit our free throws and that was the difference," Green coach Kevin Sheridan said.

Derek Lewis sparked the Green win with 26 points, four assists and two steals. John Dawson had 10 points and Brian Ramey added 9 points and four assists.

Western was led by Jeremy McLeod with 23 points. Kyle Park had 11 points and Michael White 10.

Adam Sparks scored 5 of his 7 points in the first quarter as Green took a 17-12 lead.

Lewis got 6 points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 27-20 at the break.

In the third quarter, Lewis scored 5 more points and the spread remained the same at 37-30.

Lewis took charge by scoring 12 points in the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer and 9 of 10 from the foul line. Green converted 16 of 19 free throws in the quarter as Western was forced to foul.

Green (11-6, 9-3) hosts Division IV power South Webster Tuesday in a non-league game.
