SOUTH POINT - The Fairland Junior Dragons have forgotten how to lose. They reminded the South Point Junior Pointers of that fact Thursday.

Fairland completed a 16-0 season - the team is 31-0 over the past two years - with a 45-9 rout of the Pointers to win the boys 8th grade Ohio Valley Conference Middle School basketball tournament title."We couldn't hit any shots and Fairland played pretty well. Fairland's pretty tough," Pointers coach Dough Graham said.

Mike Lamb scored 12 points and Zach Jordan had 9 points as Fairland claimed the title. Josh Esque had 5 points for the Pointers.

In the 7th grade game, South Point jumped to a big early lead and went on to post a 47-30 win over the Coal Grove Junior Hornets.

South Point shared the regular season title with Fairland although the Pointers won the two regular season games.

"It was a pretty good game for us. We were co-champs so it makes it feel a little better to win the tournament when you share a title," Graham said.

Marcus Cochran had 16 points, Todd Mayo 15 and Doug Dillon 10 as the Pointers finished the season 11-4.

Frank Delawder scored 13 points and Wayne Sparks 10 to lead the Junior Hornets.
