The Spirit of Christ Church in Ironton wants to invite the community to get "Redeemed" - figuratively and literally.

The church, a non-denominational, Bible-based ministry that was formed last year, will host the musical group "Redeemed" from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University at 10 a.m. during the Sunday morning worship service.

The group is a Southern Gospel male quartet that sings old and new Southern Gospel favorites and ministers to youth through current Contemporary Christian hits,

said Frank Conley, co-pastor of Spirit of Christ.

"We are looking a whole lot at the young people and the universities and colleges they go to," he said. "We thought by having this group we could maybe reach some of those youth."

The traveling music and ministry group shares God's message through song at churches, camps, and other venues throughout the Tri-State, Conley said.

The group is comprised of Jason Holstein, Gahanna; Kyle Lanham, Charleston, W.Va.; Joe Folts, Newell, W.Va.; and Nick Kitchen, Grayson, Ky.; and newest member Matt Llewellyn. Tim Eades, director of admissions at Mt. Vernon, will also help deliver the message.

"I would hope that people could take away some spiritual help, some spiritual guidance, Conley said. "I would hope they could leave with a sense of being closer to God."

Organized late last year and now with a more than 40 regular members, the Spirit of Christ meets at Ohio University Southern's Campus & Community building located at 1508 S. 9th St. in Ironton.
