West outscores Coal Grove, 74-58

WEST PORTSMOUTH - Evan Melvin came off the bench, but Austin Seevers came off the mat.
Melvin had a career-high 17 points off the bench for Coal Grove, but Seevers pumped in 31 points as the Portsmouth West Senators posted a 74-58 win Saturday night.
Swords scored 7 points in the first quarter as West took a 20-15 lead.
The Senators upped the lead to 31-25 at halftime and Swords got 9 more points in the third quarter as West extended its lead to 48-35.
Melvin got hot and scored 9 points and Tyler Sexton added 6 points in the fourth quarter for the Hornets, but Swords countered with 12 points including a pair of 3-pointers as West went on to post its third win.
Besides Melvin's 17 points, Sexton and Randy Wise finished with 10 points each for the Hornets (8-9).
Tom Austin scored 15 points and Brad Grooms 10 for the Senators (3-15).
The Hornets host River Valley Tuesday in a makeup game.
