Sheriff#039;s office investigating sexual misconduct charge

COAL GROVE - The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office is investigating allegations of misconduct against a Dawson-Bryant High School teacher.

Chief Deputy Jeff Lawless said the investigation began Feb. 10. The sheriff's office is receiving assistance in its investigation from representatives of the Lawrence County Childrens' Services.

The individual has not been charged at this time but has been placed on administrative leave. The Tribune's policy is to not name an individual involved until officially charged with a crime.

The allegation involves one school employee and at least one female student, Lawless said. Lawless said he did not have any details on what

prompted the investigation or any specifics on the alleged misconduct.

Lawless said the prosecutor's office will review the report and decide whether or not to file charges.
