Two was too much.
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers had just two hits, but they parlayed them and four errors into eight runs as they opened the softball season with an 8-1 win over the Jackson Ironwomen Tuesday.
Tracy Mays not only had one of the Ironton hits, but she picked up the win as she went the distance allowing just three hits and no earned runs. Mays struck out 13 and walked just one.
Brandi Norris also went 1-3 with a double.
The Lady Fighting Tigers snapped a 1-1 tie in the second without the aid of a hit. Ironton used two walks, a hit batsman and three Jackson errors to score six runs for a 7-1 lead.
Ironton plays at South Point Wednesday at 11 a.m. and at Coal Grove at 5 p.m. before returning home Thursday to play Minford at 4:30 p.m.
